Incuba Innovation Centre

Background

The construction of a training, education and demonstrator centre. The 2-storey building has a mixed use of college classrooms, demonstration hall and ‘start up’ business offices. With access 24 hours a day, various design layout and management issues had to be overcome, including reduced compartmentation and separation between uses off-set with smoke detection and defined escape routes, fire safety provisions for means of escape, whilst ensuring security presented a challenge with solutions, designing access facilities and escape provisions for various disabilities and lone workers. Stroma Building Control is also auditing the ‘quality test inspection plans’ for the contractor and sub-contractors on each construction trade during the building phases and will undertake the snagging inspection before handover to the client.
